Forget the coloring books! A book of empty pages is the best thing for kids of all ages! Journals are not just a place for words, and sketchbooks are not just a place for pictures. Combine them. Clip images, make sketches, press flowers and leaves, then take notes about why they are important. Include measurements, notes about where you found your inspiration, how you found your inspiration, why you were inspired, then date your findings. Kids are natural observers, not only will a journal be a great chance for your kids to collect ideas, but their journals will give you a peak at the world through their eyes! Not to mention all of their drawings and sketches will be organized into one neat book. This is a great activity to do as a team. Share your journal with your kids, they will learn and appreciate your view of the world too.
